Man in custody following reports of car fires in Crowborough

A male has been apprehended following a police response to reports of multiple car fires in Crowborough.

These incidents transpired in the vicinity of Montargis Way, transpiring between 10pm on Friday, September 22nd, and 3am on Saturday, September 23rd. A total of seven vehicles suffered damage.

Upon receipt of a suspect description, Sussex Police officers conducted a thorough search of the area, ultimately discovering the individual concealed near the town center.

A 57-year-old male resident of Crowborough has been taken into custody on suspicion of arson and is presently being held by the police.

Sussex police said, “We are considering this as an isolated event and express gratitude to the public for their vigilance.”
