Man suffers serious injuries after fall

Just after 2am emergency services were called to reports a man had fallen off of the small groyne to the West of Brighton pier.

Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguard teams along with Sussex police, SECAMB & Sussex Fire & Rescue all attended.

The casualty had severe injuries and was taken care of by SECAMB paramedics & HART teams. The coastguard teams assisted to move the casualty to a waiting ambulance, and then he was transferred to the hospital.

Shoreham Coastguard said “Climbing or jumping off structures on the beach or along the coast is dangerous. Falling or jumping off these can result in serious injury or loss of life
