Masked Gang Robs Vodafone Store in Bexhill

Four masked men flee with high-value tech haul as police arrest suspect and continue investigation

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a brazen daylight robbery at the Vodafone store in Devonshire Road, Bexhill.

The incident occurred around 12.45pm on Monday, 19 May, when four men entered the shop dressed in dark clothing and carrying large duffle bags. One was wearing a surgical mask, while the other three had balaclavas concealing their identities.

During the robbery, staff were threatened and tens of thousands of pounds worth of electronic devices were stolen. Officers arrived at the scene swiftly and offered support to the affected employees.

Initial investigations suggest the suspects fled on foot via Canteloupe Road into Brassey Road, before making their escape toward the seafront in a waiting vehicle.

A 37-year-old man from Greenwich has since been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Chief Inspector Simon Yates commented:

“We are investigating this robbery and are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry. It took place in Bexhill town centre at lunchtime, and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have mobile phone or CCTV footage is urged to contact Sussex Police either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 563 of 19/05.
