Murder Investigation Launched After Man Found Dead in Brighton

Arrest Made as Police Investigate Death of 41-Year-Old Man in Brighton

Brighton police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a deceased man at a property on Upper Hollingdean Road. Emergency services responded to a welfare concern at around 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, uncovering the tragic circumstances.

Unexplained Death Sparks Investigation

The 41-year-old man was found deceased inside the residence and, despite efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are treating the incident as unexplained, and inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

A 49-year-old man from Hove has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Police confirmed that the two men were known to each other, though the nature of their connection remains part of the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore commented on the ongoing inquiry, emphasizing the heightened police presence in the neighborhood. “There will be increased police activity in the area as we gather information and evidence to assist us in establishing what has led to this man’s death,” he said.

Cullimore thanked local residents and the wider public for their cooperation and patience as police conduct their investigation. He encouraged anyone with information or concerns to come forward, stating, “If anyone has any information or concerns relating to this matter, please speak to an officer or get in touch with us.”

Appeal for Public Assistance

Authorities are urging anyone with details that may assist the investigation to contact them. Information can be submitted online or by calling 101 and referencing Operation Marshgate. Additionally, anonymous tips can be shared through the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
