Mystery Surrounds Woman Found Dead in Ewhurst Wood, Crawley

Detectives Seek Clues After Woman’s Body Found in Ewhurst Wood, Crawley

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a woman whose body was found in Ewhurst Wood, Langney Green, Crawley on Sunday, October 27. A passerby discovered the woman’s body shortly before 1 p.m., and following a post-mortem examination, authorities believe she may have died the previous day. Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and detectives are focused on identifying her and notifying any next of kin.

The woman is described as white, estimated to be between 35 and 45 years old, about 5’1” in height, and weighing around 9 stone. She had no tattoos, surgical scars, or other unique markings, which has made identification challenging.

She was wearing several distinctive items at the time of her death, including:

  • Stud earrings with a single stone and three white metal hoop earrings in her left ear
  • A black Alpha One Menswear XXL T-shirt
  • A black No Fear XS jacket
  • Purple patterned leggings
  • Grey socks and black Puma Suede trainers (size 6.5)
  • A cream scarf with a distinctive black belt and chain pattern

Items found with her suggest she may have been of Eastern European origin. Detective Inspector Martin Drabble, who is leading the investigation, urges anyone who may recognize the woman’s description or who may have seen her in the area to come forward.

“Someone must have known this woman and may not yet have realized that they haven’t seen her for a few days,” said Detective Inspector Drabble. “If you recognize this description or if you saw the woman around the area in the days leading up to her death, please contact us online or call 101 quoting Operation Intern.”
