Police Appeal for Witnesses After Anti-Semitic Assault in Shoreham

Witnesses Urged to Provide CCTV or Dashcam Footage

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault on a woman in Shoreham, which is being treated as an anti-Semitic hate crime.

The incident took place on 25 January at around 1.25pm in East Street, near the junction with New Road. The victim, a local woman in her 50s, was left shaken by the attack.

Police have released an image of a man they wish to identify. He is described as being approximately six feet tall, of medium build, with stubble. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark coat, grey beanie-style hat, grey trousers, and sunglasses, and was carrying a backpack.

Officers are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or has relevant CCTV, mobile phone, dashcam, or doorbell footage to come forward. Those who can identify the suspect are also encouraged to contact the authorities.

Sussex Police recognise that global events can impact local communities and have reiterated their commitment to ensuring residents feel safe and protected. Officers are working with community partners to address concerns and monitor potential tensions.
