Police Discover Drugs, Knife, and Shotgun During Traffic Stop

Following a traffic stop in Brighton, a man has been placed in custody facing charges related to drugs and weapons. The police were tipped off about a Honda Civic entering Brighton and Hove via the A23 on November 24.

Teams from the Roads Policing Unit, Tactical Firearms Unit, and Specialist Enforcement Unit conducted a strategic stop on Viaduct Road. The driver was held for a search of both himself and the vehicle. This search led to the discovery of weapons, including a knife and a shotgun, inside the car.

As a result, Osiris Fleming-Rey, a 26-year-old from Nelson Road, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, was charged with multiple offenses. These include the possession of a class B drug with intent to supply, three counts of possessing a knife or bladed article, and possessing a firearm.

He was presented before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on November 27 and was subsequently remanded in custody. Fleming-Rey is scheduled to appear at Lewes Crown Court on December 18.

Inspector Oli Fisher from the Tactical Firearms Unit said: “Officers showed great teamwork to ensure the vehicle was safely stopped.

“The vehicle was then searched and a variety of weapons were found. These were seized by police. We are determined to remove firearms and weapons from our streets to keep our communities safe.”
