Sussex Police have secured a full closure order on a property in Eastbourne following numerous reports of anti-social behaviour, drug activity, and public disorder.
The flat, located in Berwick Court, Bourne Street, was officially closed on 3 June after a successful application was heard at Brighton Magistrates’ Court. The closure order, granted in full, took immediate effect and will remain in place for three months. The occupant was removed from the premises and is now seeking alternative accommodation.
The closure follows multiple complaints from residents who reported ongoing violent and disruptive incidents connected to the address.
Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Mattie Adam said:
“Residents had been subjected to anti-social and violent incidents for several months, and we hope the effect of the closure order can now give residents much-needed respite from the impact and intrusion these incidents have had on their lives.
“We’re grateful to those who came forward to report issues and to our partners at Eastbourne Council for their support in this joint closure.”
Police are urging members of the public to continue reporting anti-social behaviour.
“Reports from the local community help to build a map of crime in specific areas, which is vital in applying for closure orders and shaping our daily patrol strategies,” added Sergeant Adam.
