Police have recovered ten stolen caravans and a horsebox worth nearly £300,000 during a co-ordinated operation targeting properties near Horsham and in Cranleigh.
The swoop was carried out earlier this week by Sussex Police’s Rural Crime Team and Tactical Enforcement Unit, who executed a warrant at a rural property near Horsham on Thursday, 15 May. Six stolen caravans were discovered and seized at the location.
Later the same day, Sussex officers joined forces with Surrey Police to support a second operation in Cranleigh, where a further four caravans and a horsebox — also confirmed as stolen — were recovered.
Detective Chief Inspector Kay Hutchings of Sussex Police said:
“Proactive action taken earlier this week led to this timely co-ordinated operation. Our teams successfully identified and seized stolen property with a combined value of nearly £300,000. The caravans will now be returned to their rightful owners, some of whom live as far away as Warwickshire and Northumbria.”
Police confirmed the investigation remains ongoing, with efforts continuing to identify those responsible for the thefts and ensure all property is returned.
