Properties in Battle without water after a power failure at local treatment works

South East Water has issued an apology to customers in the Battle area of East Sussex after a power cut at one of their water treatment works yesterday meaning no water was produced. This has left hundreds so properties In the area with no water and no alternative water.

South East Water has said, ” Our specialist technicians are on site and working hard to get it up and running again, but this is a very long and complex process.”

“Power has been restored to the site and it is being continually manned.
However, water is used to provide chemical dosing throughout the treatment process, but because the site had completely emptied, we need to take additional actions to get the site running again.”

“At the latest, we expect customers’ taps to be flowing by tomorrow morning but we are working as quickly as we can.”

“We are really sorry but we are unable to provide alternative water at this present time due to the conditions on the roads which makes deliveries on larger vehicles difficult. This also includes farms.”
“However if you are or worried about someone who is particularly vulnerable, please call our emergency line: 0333 000 0365.”
