Pub in Burwash opens its doors to drivers stranded in bad weather

The Bear Public House in Burwash opened its doors last night to drivers who got stranded in the area by snow.

Around 40 people took refuge overnight in the Pub which laid Hot Drinks, Hot Food, and a Log Fire.

Dr Loske, a curator at Brighton’s Royal Pavilion took to twitter and said “Stranded and snowed in near Burwash since 5pm, and we all got kicked out of the first pub. A 2-mile treck through the snow to The Bear Inn, which has taken in dozens of people and is staying open all night. Hot drinks, logfires, mattresses for children. Human kindness”

The Bear Inn’s landlady, Pauline Wilson, said “Once the eight Hotel rooms were full, we quite quickly realised that these people have got to go somewhere, they can’t stay in their cars all night,”
