Religious Artefacts Stolen from St Mary’s Church in East Grinstead

Churchwarden staffs and ‘big six’ candlesticks stolen from East Grinstead church.

St Mary’s Church in East Grinstead has reported the theft of several significant religious items, including their ‘big six’ candlesticks and Churchwarden staffs, which were stolen sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Church officials discovered the theft and have expressed deep disappointment that these sacred objects have been taken. They urge anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around the church during this time to come forward with information.

A spokesperson for the church stated, “Our church is open throughout the day to provide a place of holiness and peace for the community. It is disheartening that this openness has been taken advantage of in this way. We pray that those responsible will repent and return the stolen items for the glory of God.”

Authorities are investigating the incident, and both the church and police are asking the public to remain vigilant. If anyone is offered these items or has any information, they are urged to contact St Mary’s Church or the police immediately.

The church continues to serve the community and is hopeful that the stolen items will be returned soon.
