UPDATE: George, who was missing from Brighton, has been found safe.

After exhaustive search, coastguard and police stand down operation

UPDATED 29/2/24

Good news! George, who was missing from Brighton, has been found safe.

Early this morning, emergency services including Sussex Police, HM Coastguard, the HM Coastguard helicopter, and Brighton RNLI were dispatched following reports of a vulnerable person near the water’s edge by Brighton’s West Pier. The individual, identified as 27-year-old George, has been missing from Brighton since the early hours.

Authorities have heightened their presence in the Brighton area to facilitate the search for George, who is described as white, 6 feet tall, and last seen wearing beige chino trousers, black boat shoes, and a beige puffer jacket. George is also known to have connections to Bognor.

The search operation commenced at 6:27 am amidst challenging conditions, with a thick sea mist reducing visibility to around 25 meters. As the mist began to lift, a search and rescue helicopter was deployed to aid in the search efforts. Despite these efforts, George has not yet been located, leading the coastguard to eventually stand down the search.

Sussex Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating George. Anyone with information is urged to contact 999, quoting serial 148 of 28/02, to help bring George back to safety.
