Southern Rail Back on Track After Power Cabinet Fire in West Sussex

Emergency services tackled a fire near the tracks earlier today, halting trains between Barnham and Horsham.

Network Rail confirms normal service has resumed following earlier disruption between Barnham and Horsham

West Sussex – 27 March 2025 — Train services between Barnham and Horsham are now back to normal after earlier disruption caused by a fire near the railway line at Pulborough.

Earlier today, a fire in a power supply cabinet affected the electricity supply to the third rail, bringing Southern Rail services to a halt between Barnham, Pulborough, and Horsham. The fire brigade was called to deal with the incident, which caused delays and cancellations across parts of the Southern and Thameslink network.

In a follow-up update, Southern Rail confirmed:

“Disruption caused by the fire brigade dealing with an incident near the railway earlier today at Pulborough has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem.”
