Sussex Police Officer Charged with Four Counts of Sexual Assault

25-year-old officer was off duty at the time of the alleged offences; case referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct

PC Ryan Busby to appear in court over allegations involving four women

A Sussex Police officer has been charged with four counts of sexual assault by touching following an investigation into allegations involving four women.

PC Ryan Busby, 25, is accused of committing the offences on 20 December 2024 while off duty. The women involved are all known to him.

The Crown Prosecution Service authorised the charges after reviewing evidence gathered during the investigation.

Busby is currently suspended from duty and is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 8 July.

The case was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which directed Sussex Police’s Professional Standards Department to carry out a local investigation.

A Sussex Police spokesperson confirmed the charges and said the force takes all allegations against officers extremely seriously.
