Teenage Girl Sexually Assaulted on The Promenade in Peacehaven

Police are making a public appeal for witnesses following a distressing incident in which a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Peacehaven. The incident occurred on Sunday, May 7th.

At approximately 8:15pm, the victim was walking along The Promenade, near the junction with Capel Avenue, when an unknown man approached her and subjected her to sexual assault. Thankfully, a vigilant member of the public witnessed the assault and immediately shouted at the suspect, causing him to flee the scene. The brave intervention allowed the girl to return home safely, where she promptly contacted the police to report the incident.

Dedicated officers have launched an investigation into the assault and are urging individuals who may have witnessed the incident or noticed any suspicious behavior in the vicinity during that time to come forward. Of particular interest is the person who shouted at the suspect, as they are believed to hold crucial information as a potential key witness.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s, approximately 5’10” in height. Police are urging anyone with relevant information to make contact through the online portal or by dialing 101, quoting serial number 1547 of May 7.
