Teenager Fabio Botros, 19, Charged with Killing Relative and Attacking Two Others in Brighton

Victim, 57, found dead inside property as police confirm all involved knew each other

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following a violent attack that left one man dead and two others injured at a property in Brighton.

Emergency services were called to Hartfield Avenue on the evening of Tuesday, April 1, after receiving reports of a serious disturbance.

Upon arrival, paramedics and police discovered a woman and a boy outside the property suffering from injuries. Both were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. Police confirmed on Wednesday that both have since been discharged.

Tragically, a third victim—identified as 57-year-old Emad Samir Botros Farag—was found inside the address with a significant head injury. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police swiftly arrested Fabio Botros, 19, of Hartfield Avenue, nearby. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged on Wednesday, April 2, with murder and two counts of attempted murder.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 3.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore, of Sussex Police, said:

“This was a shocking and tragic incident, and our thoughts are with those affected and their loved ones. Through our initial enquiries, it has been established that the victims and defendant are known to one another, and that the weapons involved are believed to be two knives and a hammer.”

DCI Cullimore added that officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack. “We recognise the impact this incident has had on the local community. Our officers remain in the area conducting enquiries, and we are grateful for the support and patience of the public.”

Appeal for Information

Police are urging anyone with information relating to the incident to come forward by contacting them online or calling 101, quoting Operation Catullus.
