Three Arrested After Dangerous Pursuit of Stolen Ford Fiesta

Sussex Police Use Spike Strip to Halt Stolen Ford Fiesta Near Litlington

Three men have been arrested following a high-speed pursuit involving a stolen yellow Ford Fiesta that began in Peacehaven and ended near Litlington in the early hours of Saturday, January 11.

Officers initially spotted the vehicle in Peacehaven, but the driver failed to stop. The car was driven recklessly, including the wrong way through Newhaven’s one-way ring road. Specialist officers from the Roads Policing Unit deployed a spike strip, successfully deflating the tyres and bringing the vehicle to a halt.

The occupants attempted to flee but were apprehended through coordinated efforts, including the assistance of PD Sonny, a three-year-old German Shepherd. Arrests were made at the scene, near the A27, and in a nearby garden.

Two of the suspects, 19-year-old Reece Beresford of St Mary’s Avenue, Hailsham, and 18-year-old Finlay Snow, of no fixed address, have been charged with aggravated vehicle taking. Snow faces an additional charge of possessing a bladed article. Both men appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on January 13 and were remanded in custody. Their next court appearances are scheduled for later this month.

A third suspect, a 19-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of multiple offenses, including dangerous driving, drug driving, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He has been bailed pending further investigation.
