Two arrested following theft of Range Rover thanks to joint working of Police forces

Two men have been arrested, and a stolen Range Rover recovered thanks to joint working.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit were proactively stopping vehicles in Edenbridge on Wednesday 6 July 2022 following reports of thefts in the area.

When one failed to stop when requested to do so, they were pursued through Edenbridge into East Sussex where the vehicle came to a stop with two occupants running away into a wooded area.

With the help of the National Police Air Service and Sussex Police, and following a search of the area, both the occupants were arrested.

Subsequent checks established the vehicle had been reported stolen.

A 24-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving with no licence or insurance and driving while under the influence of drink and drugs. A 45-year-old man, also from London was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

Both remain in custody as enquiries continue.
