Two Men Detained in Connection with Male Rape in Brighton

Arrests made in Surrey and Kent linked to Brighton incident.

Two men have been arrested following the rape of a 19-year-old man in Brighton in the early hours of Saturday, December 21.

The victim reported being approached by two unknown men near Harry Ramsden’s, in Old Steine, around 3:30 am. Shortly afterward, he was assaulted in nearby Steine Lane.

The victim managed to seek help from a passer-by, who called the police. He is now receiving support from specialist officers as investigations continue.

On Thursday, December 26, police arrested two suspects in connection with the incident. A 40-year-old man from Redhill, Surrey, was detained in Esher, Surrey, and a 42-year-old man from Chessington, Kingston-Upon-Thames, was apprehended in Ramsgate, Kent. Both men were arrested on suspicion of rape and remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Sean Booth praised the swift progress of the investigation, stating:
“These arrests were a direct result of excellent work from our dedicated team of staff, officers, and the public. We are still urging anyone with information about this incident to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Attach.”

Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
