Two teenagers admit involvement in Portslade stabbing incident

Two teenagers have admitted their roles in a Portslade stabbing incident.

One of them, a resident of Portslade, stood before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 16 June, admitting to causing serious bodily harm with intent and carrying a knife.

The second individual, from Hove, was presented before Hastings Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 21 August, where he confessed to an attempted robbery.

Details from the court reveal that the police were notified of the stabbing on Valley Road at 2:50 am on Tuesday, 9 August of the previous year, thanks to a call from the ambulance service. A 15-year-old from Portslade was found with a stab wound in his back.

The young culprits, whose identities are protected for legal reasons, left the crime scene but were apprehended within 20 minutes after a brief pursuit on foot by the police.

Evidence found at the scene included a knife next to a jacket, which was forensically connected to the teenager who admitted to inflicting severe bodily harm.

The injured boy received medical care in the hospital for three days and has since fully recovered.

The sentencing for these young individuals is scheduled for Friday, 8 September, at the Brighton Youth Court.
