Vandals Wreak Havoc on Brighton’s Cityclean Operations

Brighton and Hove Cityclean services face challenges as deliberate sabotage adds to disruptions, prompting council leader to issue warning.

In response to recent acts of sabotage and disruption at Brighton and Hove Cityclean, council leader Bella Sankey has issued a strong warning to those responsible, declaring, “We will not be held to ransom.”

The council’s Hollingdean depot has been at the center of attention after it was discovered that bin lorries were deliberately vandalised. CCTV footage from the depot is currently under scrutiny, revealing that the wires on two lorries were intentionally cut, rendering the vehicles inoperable and preventing them from carrying out their collection rounds.

Images captured of the damaged lorries depict deliberate and willful destruction, exacerbating the already ongoing disruptions to Cityclean services. These disruptions have led to a significant increase in missed refuse and recycling collections across the city.

Council leader Bella Sankey expressed deep concern over the situation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining essential services for the residents of Brighton and Hove. Sankey’s stern warning underscores the council’s determination to address and rectify these acts of vandalism swiftly.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities to help safeguard essential city services and prevent further disruptions to waste collection efforts. The council assures residents that every effort will be made to restore normal service levels and hold those responsible for the sabotage accountable.
