VIDEO: Firefighters Tackle Blaze at Brighton Royal Mail Facility

Swift Action by Firefighters Prevents Fire From Spreading at Brighton Depot

By Richard James

On the morning of September 6th, a fire broke out at the Brighton Royal Mail Depot, causing significant disruption and concern among local residents and businesses. The depot, located at 62 North Road, is a crucial hub for postal services in the area, raising questions about the impact on mail delivery and the safety of the facility.

The fire was first reported at around 10:17 AM, with smoke billowing from the building. Emergency services responded quickly, and multiple fire engines arrived on the scene to tackle the blaze. By mid-morning, the fire was under control, but not before causing extensive damage to the depot.

In an official statement, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) confirmed their response, stating: “Crews were called to a fire at a Royal Mail Office, in North Road, Brighton, at 10:17 AM this morning. Three appliances attended, following reports of a van fire. Firefighters used breathing apparatus and two main jets to tackle the fire, which is now out. The building was evacuated. Please avoid the area.”

As investigations into the cause of the fire continue, Royal Mail said “there could be some disruption to deliveries and collections after the fire. We can confirm that all staff are safe and no mail is damaged, but there may be some disruption to deliveries and collections today and tomorrow due to some vehicles being damaged.”
