Wave Cut Platforms have appeared on the Cliffs at the East End of Peacehaven.

Walkers are being advised not to walk near the edge of the cliffs past the end of the undercliff walk due to risk of cliffs falls as the notch increases in size, the cliff becomes unstable.
Recent and frequent cliff falls happen in the area and here a compassion from September and Today

Wave-cut notch
The point of maximum impact of destructive waves at the base of a cliff. Results in undercutting of the cliff face and subsequent rock fall.
- The sea attacks the base of the cliff between the high and low water mark.
- A wave-cut notch is formed by erosional processes such as abrasion and hydraulic action – this is a dent in the cliff usually at the level of high tide.
- As the notch increases in size, the cliff becomes unstable and collapses, leading to the retreat of the cliff face.
- The backwash carries away the eroded material, leaving a wave-cut platform.
- The process repeats. The cliff continues to retreat.
