Woman and Dog assaulted by German Shepherd in Shoreham

Police are actively seeking eyewitnesses to a distressing dog altercation that occurred in Shoreham’s Middle Road playing field.

The incident unfolded between 10:00 and 10:30 am on Wednesday, 4th October, when a local woman’s pet was viciously bitten by a German Shepherd while she was out for a walk. The situation escalated when the woman attempted to intervene, leading to the German Shepherd fleeing only to return shortly, this time toppling the woman over and launching a secondary attack on her.

Fortunately, both the woman and her pet sustained only minor injuries from the ordeal.

The German Shepherd’s owner has been identified as a Caucasian male in his 40s, noticeably large in stature, with brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was dressed in a white t-shirt and blue jeans and was wearing glasses.

Sussex police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information that could further the ongoing investigation to step forward. Witnesses are encouraged to reach out to the police either online or by phoning 101, referencing serial 461 of 04/10.
