Blaze at Derelict Building Leads to A267 Closure in Horam

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) was called at 7:23 PM on Thursday, 2 January 2025, to reports of a fire at a derelict building located on the A267 near Horam Golf Club.

By 8:30 PM, three fire engines and additional officers were dispatched to the scene to bring the blaze under control. The incident has prompted authorities to close a stretch of the A267, with Sussex Police assisting in managing traffic diversions and ensuring public safety.

Residents in the area are being urged to take precautions due to the significant amount of smoke generated by the fire. Locals are advised to keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke inhalation.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries associated with the fire. Emergency services continue to work at the scene to extinguish the flames and investigate the cause of the blaze.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes, as the road closure is expected to remain in place for some time. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
