British Transport Police (BTP) detectives have released a CCTV image of a man suspected to have been involved in a severe assault on a railway staff member. The incident occurred at Crawley station at around 4.05 pm on 25 June.
The staff member was manning the gate line when the suspect forced his way through without a ticket. When the employee challenged the man, he was punched and brutally assaulted, with the assailant even stamping on his head.
The victim suffered significant injuries, including three fractures to the eye, a fractured jaw, and a shoulder fracture. As a result of the attack, the staff member’s condition is serious, but stable, according to sources close to the incident.
The BTP believe the man caught on the CCTV footage may possess crucial information that could further their investigation.
