Yesterday (7th June) evening at around 6:30pm emergency services were called to a report of a collision in Dyke Road, near 7 dials, Brighton. The collision involved a cyclist and a driver, in a vehicle which officers believed to be a black Mercedes.
Police have confirmed this appears to be a ‘hit and run’ with a spokesperson commenting: “The driver of the Mercedes did not remain at the scene.”
A passer by told Sussex News they had seen the injured cyclist being loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher and driven away.

“Witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident is asked to report it to Sussex Police online and quote serial 1359 of 06/06.”
Government statistics comparing casualties by road user type from year ending June 2022 show that, 55% of casualties were car occupants, 14% were pedestrians, 13% were motorcyclists and 12% were pedal cyclists. The same statistics show that 16,512 cyclists were injured during that period.
