Emergency services were called to a significant house fire in Creasys Drive, Broadfield, Crawley, late on the evening of September 14. Firefighters from Crawley, Horsham, Worthing, and East Grinstead rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze.
The incident, which is being treated as a suspected deliberate ignition, is currently under investigation by Sussex Police. Officers are working alongside the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, and a heightened police presence will remain in the area as inquiries continue.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire. However, residents are urged to avoid the area while emergency services remain on scene, and those living nearby are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “We are currently assisting West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service at the scene of a house fire in Creasys Drive, Broadfield, Crawley. The incident is being treated as suspected deliberate ignition, and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area in the meantime. No injuries have been reported.”

This follows an earlier public safety advisory where West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service urged residents to avoid the area and keep windows and doors shut due to heavy smoke from the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation by both fire and police teams.
