Listen: Chief Constable Honours 11-Year-Old Hero Who Saved Dad from Trampling Cows

In a nerve-wracking encounter, an 11-year-old boy from Billingshurst, Sussex, showcased extraordinary bravery by saving his father’s life. Young Jacob and his father were on a leisurely walk with their leashed dog in a field when they unexpectedly found themselves amidst an aggressive herd of cows.

With his father caught between him and the charging cows, Jacob kept his cool, dialled 999, and provided a detailed description of their surroundings. To ensure their location was accurately tracked, Jacob quickly downloaded the what3words app, a service that can pinpoint any location on earth using just three words.

His swift and calm thinking helped guide emergency services to their exact location, averting what could have been a tragic incident.

Jacob’s courage and presence of mind in such a threatening situation have earned him a Chief Constable’s Commendation, a prestigious accolade recognizing his remarkable bravery.
