A fire broke out at “The Harvester” restaurant on Coastguard Road early this morning, prompting an urgent response from the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS). As per the latest reports, ten fire engines and an aerial ladder platform have been deployed to the scene to combat the raging flames.
WSFRS issued a statement cautioning residents and visitors: “We are currently dealing with a large fire at a restaurant on Coastguard Road, Littlehampton. We would ask that all residents avoid the area – including the seafront – and keep doors/windows shut as there is a large smoke plume.”
Arun Council expressed their distress over the situation, stating, “We are incredibly upset to see the devastation caused by fire to the Harvester site in Littlehampton this morning.” Gratitude was extended to the fire and rescue services for their timely response. The council added, “We are relieved that nobody was hurt in the incident and are so grateful to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service for their response. They are working with our officers to manage the situation.”
The inferno at the popular restaurant is expected to have significant implications for Littlehampton’s residents and its numerous visitors. The council has called for patience and understanding during these challenging times and promises to keep the public updated as more information becomes available.
