A man has been charged with committing six counts of sexual assault on teenage girls at a Steyning community event.
The police responded to an incident on Steyning Road on Saturday, June 4, 2022, where a man was held by event security staff.
Reports emerged of six teenage girls experiencing inappropriate touching amidst a crowd attending a live music event.
Dovydas Lagoda, a 28-year-old resident of Clyde Street in Sheerness, Kent, was taken into custody and has been formally charged with six instances of sexual assault.
Pending further investigation, Lagoda has been released and is scheduled to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 2, 2024.
Specialist officers are providing ongoing support to the victims during the legal proceedings.
Detective Constable Hannah Elmer said: “Thanks to the quick thinking of these six teenagers, and the swift actions of security at the event, we were able to arrest a suspect and bring these charges.
“All six of these victims will receive the full support of Sussex Police and our specialist partners for the duration of the court process and beyond.
