Man Dies Following Serious Collision in Worthing

Police Appeal for Witnesses After Elderly Pedestrian Dies in Worthing Collision

A man who sustained life-threatening injuries in a collision earlier this month in Worthing has sadly passed away, police confirmed.

The incident occurred on Friday, December 6, at around 4:10 PM when a Mercedes Vito van collided with a pedestrian on the A27 Crockhurst Hill, near the junction with the A24 Offington roundabout. Emergency services were swiftly called to the scene to assist.

The pedestrian, a 75-year-old man from Worthing, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. Despite receiving medical care, he tragically succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, December 12. Police have informed the man’s family, who are being supported during this difficult time.

The driver of the van was reportedly uninjured in the collision.

Appeal for Information Following Fatal Collision

Officers from Sussex Police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police urged members of the public to assist with the investigation:

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the incident or captured footage of the collision. Any detail, no matter how minor, could assist us in understanding what happened.”
