Man Jailed for Fast Food Store Burglary in Crawley

A man has been sentenced to 41 weeks in prison after breaking into a fast food store in Crawley Leisure Park in the early hours of Tuesday, December 3. The swift actions of local law enforcement ensured the offender faced justice within 24 hours.

Police patrolling the area around 4 a.m. were alerted by the sound of a loud alarm coming from Wingstop, a popular fast food establishment. On arrival, officers discovered a smashed window and clear signs of a break-in. Inside the premises, they apprehended 48-year-old Abdoulie Kinteh, who was in possession of a black phone, three cans of beer, and a delivery driver’s handheld device.

Offender Breaches Criminal Behaviour Orders

Investigations revealed that Kinteh, who is of no fixed address, had also breached two criminal behaviour orders in committing the crime. Following his arrest, Kinteh was charged the same day and appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 4. He pleaded guilty to the charges and received a custodial sentence of nearly 10 months.

Chief Inspector Steve Turner, District Commander for Crawley and Mid Sussex, praised the collaborative efforts of the police team in swiftly apprehending and charging Kinteh.

“We are determined to bring more offenders to justice and protect our community, and businesses, from burglary,” said Chief Inspector Turner. “Our teams worked really hard to ensure Kinteh was charged, and this quick conviction shows our robust approach to burglars. We will continue to target suspects and ensure communities across the district feel safe.”
