Police Hunt for Driver After Hit-and-Run Near Holmbush Roundabout

Officers seek witnesses after a van involved in multiple crashes fled police.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses following a series of collisions involving a white Vauxhall Astra van near the Holmbush Roundabout on Wednesday, February 28.

The incident began shortly before 5pm when officers attempted to stop the van on Mile Oak Road in Portslade. However, the driver failed to stop for the marked police vehicle and subsequently collided with a grey Jeep Avenger and a red Ford Kuga at the junction with Upper Kingston Lane.

Officers have since located the suspected van and have been in contact with the drivers affected by the collisions to check on their welfare.

Sergeant Steve Lambeth of the Roads Policing Unit acknowledged the impact of the incident on those involved and confirmed that police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collisions.

“We appreciate the impact these collisions have had on the drivers, and we are investigating the circumstances,” Sergeant Lambeth said. “We are appealing for witnesses to the incidents or anyone with information about the driver of the white van to come forward. In particular, anyone in the area with dashcam, doorbell, CCTV, or mobile phone footage is asked to report it to us.”

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Sussex Police online, quoting serial 959 of 28/02.
