Police seek witnesses to violent midday assault in Hastings

Hastings law enforcement is appealing to potential witnesses after a woman was subjected to an assault incident.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 27th, at approximately 1 pm. The victim, who was accompanied by three young children, was walking along Frederick Road near the junction of Priory Road.

According to the victim, she was approached by a man in his 40s, resulting in an assault.

A 42-year-old man, residing in Hastings, has been apprehended on suspicion of two counts of assault, including common assault and actual bodily harm. He has since been released on bail under strict conditions.

Police Constable Joshua Fox said: “This incident has occurred in midday hours in front of multiple members of the public who could provide useful information to aid our investigation.

“I would like to thank the members of the public who assisted the victim and are keen to speak with them and other witnesses in relation to the matter.
