Sunday afternoon, Shoreham RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched after the Coastguard received a report regarding a kite left adrift in the waters south of Widewater, Lancing. The kite had been caught up in the strong winds, heading towards Shoreham Harbour. Although the kitesurfer had made it safely to the shore, they were unable to retrieve the kite themselves.
To aid in the operation, the Shoreham National Coastwatch Institution provided valuable assistance by keeping a watchful eye on the kite’s location. Thanks to their support, the lifeboat crew successfully retrieved the kite. They safely brought it back to the lifeboat station, where it was later collected by its grateful owner.
