Sussex police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a taxi driver was viciously assaulted in the heart of East Preston. The incident took place at approximately 12:50 am on Sunday, May 28th, in the car park of the East Preston Social Club.
According to the victim’s account, he had just finished collecting three female passengers when an unidentified male unexpectedly leaned into his vehicle and launched a violent attack against him. Shockingly, the assault did not end there. The victim sought refuge inside the social club, only to be pursued by the assailant who continued the assault.
Adding to the distress, another individual within the social club joined in on the aggression, subjecting the already traumatized taxi driver to yet another brutal attack. The situation escalated further as the victim decided to leave the club, only to discover that the initial attacker had taken control of his taxi and was recklessly driving it around the car park. Eventually, the assailant abandoned the taxi and fled the scene, leaving the injured driver to deal with the aftermath.
In light of this distressing incident, Sussex police are urging anyone with information or any relevant footage to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. If you witnessed the assault or have any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage that could aid the authorities, please report it online or contact the police via 101, quoting reference number 068 of May 28th.
