On Tuesday, 24 October, at approximately 6:15 pm, two teenagers, ages 14 and 15, went to The Selsey Centre on Manor Road with intentions to sell a mobile phone, a deal they set up via social media.
Upon their arrival, they encountered two men. The duo coerced the 14-year-old into a dark-colored Volkswagen Golf, operated by another man, and confiscated the phone. The young teen was later released on Lockgate Road, Chichester, roughly five miles from the initial location, about 20 minutes post the incident.
The police were promptly notified, and the teen was safely escorted home. The ongoing investigation has led to the seizure of the vehicle involved.
Two individuals, a 43-year-old from Bersted and a 28-year-old from Bognor Regis, are currently in custody, facing allegations of abduction and theft.
The police are urging anyone with details or pertinent video evidence, such as mobile recordings, CCTV or dash cam footage, to come forward. Kindly submit your information online or dial 101, referencing case 1084 of 24/10.
Investigators are especially interested in witnesses of the occurrences at The Selsey Centre or the release site at Lockgate Road.
