Teens in Stolen Car Crash in Fontwell

Officers pursue stolen car on A27, ending in collision; six boys, aged 13-15, injured.

in the early hours of Sunday, Sussex Police were alerted to a stolen vehicle heading northbound along the A29 in Fontwell. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight, prompting a rapid response from local officers.

The pursuit continued briefly as the stolen car veered eastbound onto the A27. The chase came to an abrupt halt when the vehicle collided with a parked car near the Ford Road roundabout. Inside the stolen vehicle, officers discovered six boys, aged between 13 and 15, all of whom were promptly taken to the hospital for assessment and treatment.

A police spokesperson provided an update on their condition, stating, “Five have since been discharged, while one remains in hospital in a stable condition, being treated for serious injuries.”

In compliance with protocol, Sussex Police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The spokesperson added, “Enquiries are ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.”
