The Brighton Mod Weekender has been a beloved fixture in the city since 2004. Organized by the New Untouchables, this annual event brings together mod enthusiasts, music lovers, and scooter aficionados for a weekend of music, dancing, and camaraderie. The 2024 edition was no exception, with a lineup of exciting events and a lively atmosphere.
The main evening events unfolded at Komedia, a popular venue in Brighton. With its spacious wooden dance floor, air conditioning, and two well-stocked bars, Komedia provided the perfect setting for mod enthusiasts to groove to their favorite tunes. The friendly staff ensured that everyone felt welcome.
The heart of the Mod Weekender lies in its music, live performances by The Rifles, Chills and Fever, Cookin’ Catfish, The Jack Cades, Senior Class.
During the day, mod enthusiasts flocked to The Volks, located just 200 yards east of Brighton Pier. The Volks hosted free daytime events that were family-friendly. Attendees could enjoy live music, browse mod memorabilia, and soak up the mod spirit.
For those who wanted to relive the magic or catch a glimpse of what they missed, the event’s website featured a gallery of photographs from past Brighton Weekenders. From stylish scooters to sharply dressed mods, the images captured the essence of mod culture.
The Brighton Mod Weekender 2024 was a resounding success, bringing together mod enthusiasts from near and far. As the sun set over the Brighton seafront, the spirit of the 1960s mod movement came alive once again.
