Surrey, 21 October 2024 – Surrey Police were called to the M25 shortly after 10pm yesterday evening following reports of a serious collision and a lorry on fire between Junctions 8 and 9. Emergency services quickly responded, and the road is currently closed in both directions as fire crews tackle the blaze.

Surrey Fire and Rescue, Kent Fire and Rescue, Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Highways England are on-site managing the incident. The fire services are working to extinguish the flames, with Surrey Fire and Rescue confirming that five fire engines and two water carriers are in attendance. The affected section is located between Clacket Lane and Junction 6, but the collision took place between Junctions 8 and 9, resulting in significant disruption.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police stated, “The road is closed in both directions between Junctions 5-6 and is likely to be impacted for some time. Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route. We will bring you further updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.”
Surrey Fire and Rescue reiterated the warning, urging motorists to stay clear of the area as crews work to control the situation. “We have five fire engines and two water carriers in attendance at a vehicle fire on the #M25 between Clacket Lane and Junction 6. The road is closed in both directions. Please avoid the area.”
The cause of the collision and fire is still under investigation. There are currently no reports of injuries, but authorities are urging drivers to seek alternative routes as travel disruptions are expected to last for several hours.
