Last night, West Sussex Fire Service responded to a 999 call regarding a fire that had broken out in a block of flats in Kensett Avenue, Southwater, near Horsham. The call was made at 7.28 pm, prompting the service to dispatch three crews, two from Horsham and one from Crawley, to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters immediately got to work, and their efforts resulted in the successful rescue of a 79-year-old woman from the ground floor flat. The woman was subsequently treated for smoke inhalation by ambulance staff.
Crews worked tirelessly to contain the fire, which was eventually brought under control, allowing them to leave the scene at 9.38 pm. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident
