Man charged with grievous bodily harm after woman ‘stabbed’

Police in Horam have formally charged a man for causing grievous bodily harm in connection with an incident that occurred on Tuesday, June 20. The suspect was also charged with possession of a bladed article and criminal damage.

The accused, 33-year-old Liam Richardson, who is currently without a fixed address, was arrested shortly after the incident. Richardson is now in police custody awaiting further proceedings while the investigation continues.

The series of events began when the police received reports of an altercation on Beaufort Road around 10.30pm on Tuesday. The dispute, which started among a group of individuals, escalated to the point where property was damaged.

Witnesses report the group then moved to the neighboring Tollwood Road. There, a woman in her 20s was assaulted by a man with a bladed weapon. She sustained serious injuries during the confrontation.

The police responded, and Richardson was arrested in relation to the attack. His charges include causing grievous bodily harm, criminal damage, and possession of a bladed article.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries. As of now, no additional details regarding her condition have been made available to the public.

Horam Police are currently appealing to the public for further assistance. They are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, possesses relevant video footage, or any information that may aid in their ongoing investigation.

Citizens with information about the case are urged to contact the police online or through the emergency phone number, 101, and to quote “Operation Shipley.”
