Iconic rock and pop star Sir Rod Stewart has commended the work of the volunteer crew at the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in Littlehampton following a £6,000 donation from his dedicated fan club. The donation was presented in person by Sir Rod’s sister, Mary Cady, who, along with other fan club members, visited the lifeboat station to hand over the funds and meet with the volunteer crew.
In a statement celebrating the donation, Stewart said, “What a wonderful donation to such a great cause. Keep up the good work down at Littlehampton RNLI station.”
The Rod Stewart Fan Club, known for its annual charitable contributions, chose Littlehampton RNLI this year to help the station’s dedicated volunteers continue their vital work on the Sussex coast.
“It’s always a pleasure to welcome people to our boathouse, but as a Rod Stewart fan myself, this visit was particularly special,” said Nick White, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Littlehampton RNLI. “Everyone at Littlehampton RNLI is blown away by such a generous donation, and I would like to thank every member of the fan club for their kindness.”
Ian Roberts, a representative from the fan club, expressed gratitude to Cady and the fans who made the donation possible, saying, “Thanks to the generosity of the Rod Stewart Fan Club and the continued support from our Patron, Mary Cady, we are delighted to be able to donate to the RNLI station at Littlehampton.”
The RNLI relies heavily on donations and volunteer support, and contributions like this help ensure the lifeboat crews are equipped and ready to save lives along the UK coast.
