Two people were arrested by police in Brighton following an assault on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Brighton Beach, near the Kings Road Arches.

Emergency services were called to the arches just after 5pm on June 23 after reports of an assault. The victim, a 44-year-old man, sustained facial injuries and was treated by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) for further treatment.

Two men, aged 38 and 34, were detained by police on the beach. As of Monday afternoon, they remained in police custody.

A Sussex Police spokesperson provided a statement regarding the incident: “Two people were arrested after a man was assaulted in Kings Road Arches, Brighton, about 5.10pm on Sunday 23 June. The victim, a 44-year-old man, sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The suspects, aged 38 and 34, remain in custody at this time.”

Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward with any information. Anyone who saw the incident or has relevant information is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 920 of 23/06.
