In the early hours of this morning at 1:50 AM, Brighton lifeboat was launched after HM Coastguard received reports of Red flares spotted off the coast between the Piers in Brighton.
While this incident turned out to be a false alarm, it serves as a reminder to the public: If you ever spot someone in distress on the water, do not hesitate to dial 999 and request assistance from the coastguard.
