“Brrr”-ave swimmers turned Brighton Beach into a sea of festive madness on Christmas Day as hundreds charged into the freezing waters of the English Channel for the city’s traditional Christmas swim.
Battling wild seas, strong winds and bitterly cold temperatures, participants of all ages ran into the icy water, many dressed in Santa outfits, festive costumes and eye-catching fancy dress.
Crowds lined the promenade and beach, cheering, filming and laughing as swimmers screamed and splashed through the rough conditions, refusing to let winter weather dampen one of Brighton’s most loved Christmas traditions.
Despite the challenging sea state, spirits remained high throughout the event, which has become a highlight of the city’s festive calendar and a must-see spectacle for residents and visitors alike.
The annual Christmas Day swim once again delivered a dramatic and unforgettable start to Christmas Day, proving that even freezing seas and wild weather can’t cool Brighton’s festive spirit.
