Endri Lamaj, 23, of no fixed address, was followed by officers and detained under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. During the search, Lamaj admitted to the offence and even offered officers Class A drugs.

Officers recovered 11 zip bags of cocaine and a large sum of cash. Lamaj was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and taken into custody.

He was charged in the early hours of 6 August and appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court the same day, before pleading guilty at Lewes Crown Court on 3 September. He was sentenced immediately to two years in prison.

Chief Inspector Simon Marchant of Brighton Neighbourhood Policing said:
“The local community played a vital role in providing intelligence that enabled officers to apprehend Lamaj and remove him from the streets. Drug dealing brings disruption, fuels anti-social behaviour, and creates insecurity within the community. Patrols remain ongoing, and we urge residents to report suspicious activity. Together, we can continue to keep our streets safe.”
