A member of the public raised the alarm at Brighton railway station on Tuesday evening (21 October) after spotting a man carrying what appeared to be a large knife.
Security staff from the railway quickly responded, detaining the suspect and contacting British Transport Police (BTP). Witnesses said “The weapon was “machete-sized” and could be seen tucked into the man’s trousers, with the handle visible above his belt line.”
A BTP spokesperson said:
“Officers were called to reports of a man with a knife at Brighton railway station just before 6.15pm on Tuesday (21 October). Officers attended and a 27-year-old man from Bexhill was arrested and taken to custody.”
No injuries were reported, and the incident caused minimal disruption to rail services.
